The Eastlake Island CID is a promising initiative that aims to enhance the safety, environment, and social development of the Eastlake Island community. It builds upon the foundation of the ELISA initiative, which has been successful in providing public safety for the community since 2006.
The CID has been approved by the City of Cape Town and has been incorporated as a non-profit company. This indicates a strong commitment to the initiative and its potential to make a positive impact on the community.
A City Improvement District (CID) is a defined area where property owners invest in "top-up" services beyond those provided by the City. Through a collaboratively developed business plan, residents contribute additional rates to fund enhanced public safety, environmental initiatives, beautification projects, and other community priorities.
CIDs are resident-driven solutions for communities seeking to improve their quality of life. By pooling resources, residents enjoy a well-managed area, a strong sense of community, and access to valuable programs.
The Eastlake Island CID exemplifies this concept. It provides supplemental services beyond those offered by the Marina da Gama Association and the City of Cape Town, fostering a safer, cleaner, and more vibrant environment for all.
We value your input and want to make Eastlake Island an even better place to live. Share your constructive suggestions and questions related to public safety, environmental initiatives, social development programs, or any other aspect of our community - email info@eastlakeislandcid.co.za
Remember, when making suggestions, please ensure they comply with City of Cape Town policies and by-laws - City of Cape Town By-Laws
By working together, we can create a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant Eastlake Island for all.
"Membership to the Eastlake Island CID is open to all property owners who are encouraged to apply for membership so that they exercise their rights to influence the business of the CID. Membership cannot be denied and the property owner is entitled to attend, participate and vote at the Company meetings held under the auspices of the Companies Act. Should a member be unable to attend they may give another individual their proxy to attend and vote on their behalf. Non-members may attend and participate but cannot vote and as such may thus have limited influence on the CID activities."
